To: Minnesota Phenologists
From: George Weiblen, Scientific Director, Bell Museum
As you know, the grand opening of the new Bell Museum of Natural History and Planetarium is just around the corner in 2018. Would you be willing to voice your support for funding the Bell Museum operations to your representatives? There is a request before the MN State Legislature this session to help bring the new building to life and operate it for years to come (*House Bill HF1174, Senate Bill SF1084*).
There are a variety of ways for you to share your support: a letter, an email or a phone call. *Personal messages make an impression on legislators--especially when they are from one of their constituents*.
As phenologists, you know why a natural history museum and planetarium matters to Minnesota.
Find your representatives’ contact information here:
*Even a brief note, “I urge you to support House Bill HF1174.” and/or “I urge you to support Senate Bill SF1084.” will make a difference!*
Of course it would be useful to include any special reasons you have from past experiences for supporting the Bell Museum, and you might find additional reasons for supporting the New Bell Museum on the Museum’s web site.
If you would like more information on the actual bills, google “Minnesota Legislature” and enter HF1174 and SF1084 in the Search Box for the House and Senate Bills respectively.
Thank you for your support.
